Pinging VR6 Corrado
Here a dyno chart of a customer that
contacted us for our DSR 256 cams. We baselined his car at a
measily 144 HP at the wheels or 165 HP at the crank using a 12.5%
drivetrain loss correction. We'll HP was down as the car knocked
and pinged with an aftermarket chip from "another" popular
company. You can see the dips in power as the car's knock sensors
were going hog wild and retarding the ignition in attempts to protect
the motor.
We'll, first things first, in went the DSR
cams. The results were now 159 HP to the wheels or 182 HP @ the
crank. Much better than before! HP increased by a nice 15
horses (HP). The pinging was reduced most likely by some of the
cam overlap, but things were still not as smooth as they should be.
Time for the GIAC (Garrett Chip). Wow!
What a difference. Look how smooth the curve has become! We now
hit close to 167 HP @ the wheels or 191 HP @ the crank! A quick
test drive and the customer replied, "I didn't know what I was
missing :-)"
